Steve Robinson

Steve Robinson is the consummate Deep House DJ; creating soundscapes that liquefy the soul and embrace you with warm beats and sumptuous basslines. The infectious grooves that are a constant throughout his sets are influenced by the sounds of House, Techno, Soul and Jazz; offering up a sophisticated experience that heightens the senses and moves the feet. Hailing originally from Liverpool, UK, Steve started DJing at age 12 surrounded by the Jackin’ sound of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak and DJ Heather. It was not long before that itch to get in front of a bigger audience led to a move to the capital city of London. Once there, he secured a four-year residency at the Prince of Wales (formerly the Brixton Club) and supported some of the most famous DJs of the modern era.

The list reads like a who’s who of the most influential DJs to have ever graced the decks and is a testament to how highly valued he is in his own right; Norman Jay MBE, Joey Negro, Felix Da Housecat, Marshall Jefferson, Nicky Siano, Hot Chip, Dimitri From Paris and the timeless Gilles Peterson all graced his booth. ​ Never staying in one place for too long, Steve got the travel bug once again and migrated to Sydney, Australia. A new town meant new challenges and new horizons but it also gave him the opportunity to reinvent himself as a DJ/Producer. Immersing himself in the studio, he started to apply all that accumulated knowledge that had been a large part of his British experience. ​

As his production career progressed through the release of several disco reworks, the public began to notice how his music went beyond the mere edit and entered into remix territory. His work was soon discovered by none other than Fingerman at the Hot Digits label, and as a result, he released his debut EP ‘Delicious Disco’ under the alias SR Edits. Not only did it receive critical acclaim, more importantly, it went straight into the number one slot on Juno Downloads for Nu-Disco and was a solid presence on the Traxsource charts too. ​ Never settling for what he has achieved so far, Steve then decided to pit his formidable talents against 4,000 other producers in the 2020 Beatport Producer competition. His track ‘Anywhere’ took out the top prize for the Deep House category and is a clear indication of where his music sits right now; Beautifully melodic with a smooth, deep bass and elevating keys which tick all the right boxes. ​

Branching out from the studio to once again occupy the performance arena, Steve is continuing to deliver on the promise which underscored those UK residencies. The booth will once again become his sanctuary and Australia will no doubt benefit from his ability to move and hold a room. ​ Steve Robinson will keep you enthralled, grooving, and turn you into a permanent feature on the dance floor.
