Jesse Saunders invented House Music. A bold statement but one which is founded in fact. Hailing from Chicago, Saunders orbited the same world as Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy long before the genre was even called House. It was at the legendary Playground that he learnt his chops and where the inspiration for ‘On and On’ came from.
Jesse released the track on his upstart label ‘Jes Say Records’ in 1984 and it is this record which is credited with sparking the worldwide phenomenon called House Music. He was the first Chicago DJ/producer to secure a major record deal with Geffen/Warner Bros Records in 1986 and during his 10 years there, he produced and remixed artists such as De La Soul, Paula Abdul, Gerardo, Jermaine Stewart and the chart-topping Simple Pleasure. He also was a major contributor at Jive Records where he worked with long-time friends Wayne Williams, DJ Pierre and Mr. Lee.
With credentials such as these, to say that JESSE SAUNDERS is an icon is an understatement. His message of education, love, peace and harmony through House Music has been recognized on a global scale. He is not only The Originator of House Music but also one of House Music’s global ambassadors. We are therefore privileged to welcome his Global House Show to Bondi Radio.
